(Produced by Graham Mackie)

It was a still, mild evening at the Pavlinovich  MG gallery of  magnificent printed memorabilia for our first pow-wow of 2009. The air was warm up in the Lesmurdie hills and the easterly hadn't started when the meeting kicked off.  Some sat under the trees in the back stalls trying to catch a breeze, others were happy with the theatre styled arrangement closer to the administrative side of the organisation. I sat in the middle to try and catch and be able to report on the one-liners and authoritative views of the honorable members. It took two blows of the horn to quieten the throng.

Welcome. President JB wished one and all a happy and healthy New Year and the wishes were reciprocated with murmurs all round.

Apologies noted by me were from Neville G, Patrick R,  Doug S. There may have been more. Sorry if I missed anyone..

Visitors. Peter Boreham was welcomed. He had attended 3 or 4 meetings already and a little later in the meeting was accepted into full membership amid acclamation. Peter has acquired what was once Rick Mahoney's car and it's well into restoration. Rick, a great flamenco player,  bought it in 1970 and it was in a shed till 1974. Earlier history is being researched. Peter is now restoring the car. Seems he was offered the car by the family, having expressed an interest some years previous and hummed and harred for something like 4 minutes before he said yes.!!!! His father had a TC when he (the father) married and Peter's Dad vaguely thought it might have been the same car, thinking he recognised a dent in the firewall. Some cheeky voice thought it might have been caused by a foot, and wondered if it was upside down... Not really feasible

Minutes from the Chittering meeting were read and accepted. It included the incredibly enthusiastic response for Graham M.to continue the effort to gather stories of 'Life with a T or Y Type'. Thought I'd just mention that again........

Matters Arising.

Old Farts Lunch. Graham A asked for a volunteer  to do the 2nd February lunch or we could join him on Rottnest.  Mike S. offered. Graham A. suggested Deepwater Point Cafe.  - Mt. Pleasant. Sounds good to me – haven't tried it yet....     More later

XPAGMAS Party went well again and a vote of thanks given to Ivan & Margaret and Graham & Bobbie and the Pav's for recommending the caterers. The financial result was satisfactory to Treasurer Colin. Another venue to be adopted for next year and an offer in the pipeline it seems.

Early Morning Run  this Sunday 11/1/09.  Proposed by Noelene as a 6.30am start at Kings Park behind Frasers Restaurant with a run up the coast to a beach side cafe and a swim afterwards. Quite a number keen to participate. BYO shark repellent.

General Business

Ron M. asked about Mike S's offer to impart knowledge and wisdom on Concours preparation. Mike agreed to prepare for it. Question was asked what Mike would know about TF's. Answer was the same as you on TC's. (touche)   A friend of Steve P. who attended 2008, offering to fly in from Melbourne to assist with judging. Will be held on the banks of the creek???? (JB's description)  same as last two years. Rob G. suggested that clocks and windscreen wipers to be operating this year. boo's and hisses from the crowd. Pernickety aren't we Rob – mine haven't worked for years....

Meeting Swap.     PLEASE NOTE

Meeting 1187 of 5 February will be @ Steve P's.

Meeting 1188 of 19 February @ Peter P's.

Concessional Licensing. Mike S. referred to the Detheridge/Finning/and now Wally situation and mused it was a 'trojan horse' to save a few dollars. A long debate/ blame game followed, mentioning faulty emailing, lack of phone calls, the rules, the Club's interest and reputation etc. It was hot and serious but not recorded in detail and added to the compendium. All agreed.

Peter Brigg's TC (concours car ) is for sale at a negotiable $40k.

Frank Johnson's TC was on eBay for $35k

Lifes a TC or Y Type. Graham M. mentioned that stories were not exactly flooding in, but another thanked Glen H. for his story and some preliminary creative writing by Morris P.  who will complete it before moving to the UK  - won't you Morris???.

Phil W. is looking for rear wheel cylinders. He was referred to MG Heathrow.

Paul G. moved position and cracked a seat.  Memories of Darryl at my place

Radiator Badges.   Rob G. has been collecting same since 1976 and found discrepancies in many. He has spent hours fixing up the duds and is sending them to an expert to restore.

Arthur Collett Update.  He is now in the Craigcare Nursing Home. Son visits daily and Maryanne took him for a run in the TC. Now 96. Has a tumour on the jaw.

Murray West passed away recently

The Noel Semmens Bentley. Wife Pauline has the Bentley in with Colin B. It was running hot. Col found the sump full of sludge and fire hosed and prodded until it was clear. Radiator 60% blocked as well but now running cooler.

Supper by Margaret. Superb, plentiful, delicious and I saw real men eating quiche
