Club Meeting 1189 March 2009, Graham M

MG TC Owners Club Newsletter

 from Meeting 1189 - 5th March, 2009

(Produced by Graham Mackie )

The Rankin crew have spent twenty one years at their house,  43 years married, with a car that is 60 years old on 15th if I remembered it correctly, plus three heart operations and still backing up to host our 2009 Christmas Party. That is keeness for you.    A pleasant 30 degree, still night made for a start on time and a finish pretty early, at 10pm. The only disruptive influence was a noisy frog that was going crook because we'd invaded his territory. Darryl told it to shut up and it did for 3 seconds but dared him again to no avail.

Apologies for their absence were Graham B., Ralph K., Doug S., West R., Mary Ann.,  and Noeleen D.

Car Birthdays

Paul G. reluctantly advised there were none for this period.

Minutes of 1188 mantioned the Kimber Tour – date & details yet to be decided, the Lambie submission on Concessional Licence, the Website (to which Patrick F. said he was "not smart enough". Patrick 's honesty was applauded.)

Matters Arising. John L. reported that Vic L  has had three operations and it will be three to four weeks before he returns home. John L. plus Rob G and Peter Robinson have offered to help wind up repairs etc on  the Morris Minor and TD. He is on the 6th Floor - west end of RPH but visits to be kept short please.

Murray Maff (a TD owner that attended a couple of our OFL's and was a client and friend of myself passed away on 24th February. Murray was a Chartered Accountant that grew up in Waroona . He was also a gun mechanic (must breed them in Waroona) and very involved in many areas of development and earthmoving. His wife will contact me if they would like help to sell his TD through the Club, she mentioned today. John Sherriff, another MG friend is home from Melbourne after 4 weeks hospitalisation. Looks good but leg still requires treatment.

National Rally – Geelong- attendees scarce from our Club it seems..

Annual Concours. A good roll up of 34 cars on a near perfect day. Results announced again.  Thanks extended to those owners of six cars absent to give others a chance at a trophy.   Sec. Chris thanked all that helped with the judging.

Business Arising.

March OFL at Sittella Winery saw twelve or so attending. Darryl took his blue rinsed darling out for a 60th birthday lunch and had fun grinding the crank he said

Next OFL host is Graham A and venue to be advised later.

Club History Book. Wally has bought some new software that will allow the book to be a paper copy or a DVD. Lots of work put in by Barry P. and JB (on the films now completed). Running films through the editing machine to obtain good photos . The 1961 to 1971 era is now complete and the 71 to 81 and 81 to 91 is in the word processor. Barry has been phoning some members for snippets to liven it up. Want to cut off at 2001 and now dependent on Richard for time, which he thinks could be available by the end of the year. Barry emphasised that it was very time consuming with 3 lines taking up to an hour's work on occasions.

Old Age  Paul G. talked of his 94 year old father in South Africa & said that he suddenly realised he was 'getting old'. He drives to the shops for the 'old dears ' - in their 70's every Wednesday.

Ivan's Dad – aged 92 went crook at his Bowling Club on the 'oldies' – much younger than himself.

Brake Master Cylinder. JB displayed a prototype that was dhiny & looked professional
