MG TC Owners Club Newsletter

 Meeting 1197 - 25th June, 2009

(Produced by Graham Mackie)

Meeting 1197 in Nedlands was a well attended affair and started close to time – CHEERS ALL ROUND. Mike S. got a lift to save getting lost and Pres JB & recently retired Secretary CB (reluctantly in the Chair but with the greatest recent experience) also managed to arrange an early start.

Visitors were Mike Brewer, one of the Club's young gun drivers in the 1995 Natmeet at Fremantle, (these days driving a BMW he admitted to me), plus all the way from Kalgoorlie, Dennis Turner, the winner of the 1987 National Concours, reported to be in town for the Swapmeet.

Apologies were minimal. I think only Ralph K and Jack G.

Minutes of Meeting 1196. Mention was made of Noeleen's 2nd in the Last Chance, the Swapmeet, the Elections, the alteration of Meeting 1212 to Darryl Robins, the T Shirt orders etc.

Col will look you over from the calendar during the month of October. The Editor's two cars (at that time) show their superb rear ends to all for the month of January, 2010. The 70 year old trees in the photo were blown down in  a cyclone a few years ago.

Port Bottling Weekend. The Commemorative Label is a drawing by Graham A's father, Noel of a TA Special, drawn from memory whilst he was based flying in New Guinea. The TA was the winner of the Australian Grand Prix – owned and driven by Alan Tomlinson.  Colin B. has made all of the arrangements for port, seals etc. but needed someone to collect and take to Northam.. MGTC logo. Graham M. asked if there was a logical or historical reason behind the full stops after T. and C. on our badges and shirts logo. If not needed he asked if they could please be removed from our artwork. Some said we should 'pull out all stops' others saying we 'should not stop', others, 'stop at all costs' others it was a 'stop gap' measure. Nothing will happen unless we 'stop it quickly'.
