MG TC Owners Club Newsletter

 Meeting 1212 – 4th  February, 2010

(Produced by Graham Mackie)

Our host for Meeting 1212 was Darryl R. of Carramar. Apart from the few cross country locals, most had a nice run up the Freeway for as far as it goes. Lawns were cut, edges trimmed and the new pyramid patio was just the bees knees for a little later than usual start, but given that Pres. JB drove all the way from Waroona, Paddy from Mandurah, Graham from Rockingham, Colin from Jarrahdale and others from the hills and far away it was not a problem We had  a well attended and extremely delightful  evening of news and laughs. Someone left a table at the meeting and Darryl would be pleased to know whose it is. Please phone him.....

Apologies noted were from the Pyles, David R, Kevin McM, & the Stewart -Richardsons.

Visitor Bruce Sharman, the new owner of Octagon Manufacturing and the principal of Bygone Spares and Restorations based in Toodyay was introduced and told us more about his business operations later in the meeting.

Minutes of 1211 were read by Sec. Ralph. Visitors were Brian King and Lloyd Rogers, the EMR sported 16 cars, the EFYacht Club b'fast was fun and the Mackie arranged guitar duo was most enjoyable. The OFL at Settlers Hills was well attended, David R. has acquired an MGB, Rob G. has some side screen info.

Darryl's Dilemma. Worst of all was the situation of a side of the road stranded Dazza, after the meeting while other members went zoom, zooming past. There was a need to knock up Colin B. to exchange a petrol pump at midnight. That is the second time a disaster has happened on the way home from a Butler meeting and Darryl is likely to boycott future attendances having broken a crankshaft last year and calling on Col. also at that time.

Matters Arising.

Bruce Sharman was invited to tell us more about his business, having bought the Vic Longden Octagon Manufacturing business prior to Vic's passing.

He had installed eight of Vic's harnesses in the past and saw it as an add on to his current vehicle restoration business. He runs it from his home and restores cars to showroom condition. Charges monthly to spread the pain. We are welcome to visit anytime.

I used to be indecisive but now I'm not sure
