MG TC Owners Club Newsletter

 Meeting 1214 – 4th  March, 2010

The genial hosts for Meeting 1214 were the Michelsens of Maida Vale.

Greeted by Kangaroo and Emu, minus the Coat of Arms (awaiting Royal Assent), the resemblance to the 50 cent piece coat of arms is immediately apparent and welcoming. The cool change from overheated heated February was also welcomed

Apologies registered were the 83 year old (that day) Jack G. enjoying a family celebration.

Guests were absent but surprisingly no toast was proposed to them

Minutes of 1213

The minutes of the last meeting comprised the Newsletter complete with inserted blemishes but nevertheless accepted

It was a highly successful outing for 37 cars of which 23 were TC's, 5 Y's, 3 TD's, & 4 TF's plus 2 Pre-wars.  A number of previous members turned up due in part to the Alex Forrest articles. Ralph fielded many phone calls and the turnout was great, auguring well for the 50th next year. Col D. estimated there were another 19 TC's, 3 TD's and 3 TF's in garages licenced and running so the 50 for the 50th ought to be achievable.  Rob G. expressed appreciation to Patrick F, John & Joyce B, all judges and Col D. and this was well supported.

The Bicton TF (Red) currently advertised for sale at $42k was there also.

Special Business

Natmeet – Shirts were discussed . There are now 5 TC's AND 2 MGA's venturing forth into the Festival State and beyond.

Easter Weekend. 9 rooms are available in the Greenhills pub for a country run proposed by Morris P. Greenhills is 22 km east of York. Drive there Sunday morn overnight and back Monday. Eight (8) starters signified interested.

Also proposed is a run on 1st and 2nd May to see the Vincent collection in Jurien

Badge for 50th Celebration. Tony C. offered a design of an MG logo over a WA background. Words 'Celebrating 50 years 1961 – 2011.  More designs invited.

General Business

Concessional Licences . Aldous and Sherrell going on to Melbourne – all OK.

Motokhana . Patrick advised Wesfarmers require confirmation that conditions of use will be met. We agree to it all and thank them again.

Trophy Night Dinner. Col D.  query re venue and said any alternative needed to be raised quickly if a better one is to be considered . 2010 is booked 12 June.

Peter Compton sends regards to all members.

Kevin McM and TC steering. Daredevil contest story of old was related to much mirth. Kevin caught out playing with his multi grip under the dash.

TD for sale. Chris Scott (ex member) of Yunderup has a red TD for sale. Would like $32,500. Phone Chris on 9537 7652 for full details.

Bill Hume (ex member) looking for a TC, said Tony C. He called on the Mandurah Autocare fellow who imported a TC, a Grand Turino, a '65 Mustang, MK 2 Jag and a Ford A ute etc. Nice cars.

Mike S. reported he has removed engine – about to go back in in preparation for the interstate adventure  Re Collie Event - Peter P. has worked out a nice run.

VSCC issue an invitation to join them on a run to Millbrook Winery on  7 March . 10am for 10.30 at Tomato Lake . Must book on 92954592.

Old Farts Lunch was a hit with 12 attending. Next in the hands of Phil Wells

Stop Lights. Paul Gale has some real goodies. Have a gander next meeting...

Mike S. pulled over for one tail-light on the way to the meeting.

Meeting closed at 10.20. We adjourned to the verandah for a natter & coffee.
