Meeting 1157, held at the Mike’s South Perth "home of TC's" , where we were greeted by three TC's in a row in the garage. Truly a beautiful sight. The meeting opened slightly late with  'okey dokey here we go' from Pres. JB.

Apologies, as usual was the first cab off the rank. Those I heard mentioned were Ted S., Peter D., Steve P., Martin F., Patrick F.

Visitor Julian Anderson is to be with  us till February someone stated.

Minutes of 1156

It highlighted Colin D's 700 meetings and his ...th  birthday and he was again given a great ovation. Also mentioned was the visit of Nick Langford from Melbourne and his talks on the restorations of prewar cars.

Ken R. In response to whatever someone said, he claimed he was not as old as Colin D. (hisses and boos)

Harry P. sold 7 calendars on eBay and bought another 4 himself as Christmas presents to send overseas (cheers all round) Noticed our semi international visitor Chris K. also purchasing one to keep up with local happenings when here and in the UK.  Harry said he received excellent feedback but the sales pitch which was appropriately padded out. He suggested that we need to start selling earlier next year. Harry commented that the "whole philosophy was excellent". Diedre's book is selling for high asking price on e Bay and a TC original sales brochure is priced at $189, indicating there is a hunger for TC product on eBay.

Website Neville said that 'all got going before he received the newsletter'. In answer to the query re whether we get notified about the domain name expiring, the answer was "yes we do  and its sorta under control". We are not getting photos on the website at the moment.

Old Fart's Lunch There were about 12 starters at Rowley's on the Ridge – food and atmosphere was good.

Next Old Fart's Lunch in the hands of John L. Costa Azzura Xmas Menu too rich for most. More options to be examined.

Special Business

Crowd Trial starts at Narrows Bridge 18th at 9am and it seemed that like only 3 starters. Graham A agreeed to navigate for the President. Finish is to be at Churchman's Brook

500 Meetings.   Barry P was congratulated for this incredible milestone.

Christmas Party. Colin wanted all to pay asap. There are 58 plus a few more starters. It is to be held at Ivan and Margaret M's on 8 December, starting 6.30pm – no later please. Bring bathers  if you would like to cool down.

Meeting 1159  is to be held at the Ken and Maryanne's– , South Freo garage. Many thanks to Ken and Maryanne for taking this one over. Sec. reminded members that an Urn and mugs are available if needed for a meeting.

General Business

Midgie for Sale  John L. recalled that Mike had received a letter from a fellow in the USA keen to buy a Midgie. Scott L. Bought two, twelve years ago and is considering selling one but wants to offer it initially to a Club member. There was a suggestion of $1200 but any offers are to be negotiated with Scott.

356 Rally – New Zealand January, 2009. It is to be based in Whangerei and there will be lots of social touring- lots of TF's but few TC's. Harry & deidre keen to participate- are there any more possible starters? A long discussion followed on the shipping of cars to NZ.

Parts wanted. Phil W. Is looking for a bell housing. JB/Mike S. think they can help.

Making good progress with restoration and Patrick F. helped with frame.

London to Brighton. Ralph K.drove a 1905 de Dion this year and actually finished although ran out of fuel 3km. from finish. It didn't rain but didn't shine also. Sticky bun at Crawley.  Attended Bonham's Auction Friday. Seats in cars sold for one thousand pounds each.  Reception Friday was for international entrants. Saturday 100 cars in Regent Street display and 609 pre 1904 entrants in the race. Value of '04 cars double that of '05's. Saturday night RAC – Pall Mall Cocktail Party for international entrants. Enjoyed himself.

John H out of projects at present.

Mike S. reported that great progress was being made with JB's car – may be ready for Xmas. Martin F's TC now concessionally licenced – thanks to Col B. The car was bought for $35 in the UK – now back on the road  but hood and sidescreens to go.

Brockwell Run – 80 cars – well supported.

Applecross Round the Houses  Plaque is now in place in Ardross Street said Mary Ann.. 80 people turned up from the VSCC. Mayor Alburey keen to see it happen again. Symes, Rankins, Kevin McM and Harry & Deidre attended from our club.

Goldfields Tour was reminisced and Kevin McM's experiences recounted – hilarious stuff.

Labour Day holiday. Pres. JB suggested a trip to We.lllington Mills

Tom McCahill in a recent Mechanix Illustrated commented on the heater in a Jag - " Like an old lady breathing on your leg"

and of the acceleration of the'98 Oldsmobile was "like stepping on a wet sponge"

and on the 1954 Ferrari he said "one of the greatest sportscars in the world , even though it may fall apart in the first 10 miles"

or " buying a secondhand sportscar can be easily compared to a guy looking forward to a long, happy married life with a gal that's already been married 8 times"
