Club Meeting 1166 Apr 2008, Graham M

 MG TC Owners Club Newsletter

 from Meetings 1166 - 3rd April, 2008

(Produced by Graham Mackie).

Neville and Helen G.  hosted overflow meeting 1166 in their Marmion residence. Many thanks to you both. We did enjoy it as we do every meeting. A mild windless night and no mozzies.   I got lost as usual  - they ought to rename one half of Parnell Avenue if the put a barricade in the b.....middle. Regrettably didn't have time to see what was going on in the garage  but no doubt some new and exciting mini ventures were underway.

Pres. And Sec. on time and the meeting got going in stereo with members voices coming from left and right. JB worked hard to make the meeting last to 10pm even tho' the sausage rolls were smelling good.

Visitors were scarce – in fact none but

Apologies I heard were  Mike B., Tony C., Ivan M. and Jack G.

Minutes from 1165  referred to Peter Boreham purchase of a TC and also a smaller Brooklands steering wheel designed for members where gravity had taken over, coinciding with a members chair collapsing. No charge for breakages.

Brookton Old Time Motor Show. At least 3 or 4 made the journey, getting colder then hotter as the trip progressed according to Pres JB. Lots of tractors, Ford T's (all black?) Valiants. Heaps of Kalgoorlie escapees, Navy Band with Charles C. playing his heart out, aerobatics, tank, machine guns, military vehicles  - a great day had by all it seems.

Sashes for Trophy Night. No response from Theo yet

Cruise to Rottnest with Ernie Little was a great tall tales, nostalgia (Kevin McM featured in lots) and fellowship journey and calm seas meant no technicolour yawns. Six brave, adventurous souls took part and Ernie tried a foot long Sub, coutrtesy of Wally. The boat was bought in Bermuda and sailed here. Luxury, shipshape and available for charters. Kevin McM said it was good of Ernie to think of us and make it available. All agreed.

Club Calendar was circulated with gaps to be filled with volunteer meeting hosts. If you are keen to try one, contact Neville asap.

Address List, updated by Darryl was also circulated to check current details before publishing.

Films to DVD.   Pres. JB still looking for some advice on experts in the field with a view to finalising all the events that have been captured in previous years.  Quotes required for conversion to DVD from 8 mm, Super 8 and Video originals .

Calendar with pictures. Graham A. is urgently seeking good large photos – particularly of runs through the year. Happy to accept them electronically. Ron asked for captions under photos if possible this year. Graham agreed. Much debate and comment about the cover photo. The last one was a beauty – celebrating 60 years of the Y Type as I recollect

Also presented 25 year badge from VCC of New Zealand. Congratulations Chris. He spoke of a visit to Peter Johnson's Museum in Omaka  just outside Blenheim. Opened about 3 years ago. A fabulous use of a lot of money – great aircraft and cars on show in a huge building with extensions envisaged. Dioramas of Richtoffen etc.

Trophy Night. Please start polishing and return prior to the night.
